Project Soar is non-profit 501(c)3 organization, registered in the U.S. and Morocco. The organization was founded in 2013 by Morocco-based American social entrepreneurs, Maryam Montague and Chris Redecke.
Project Soar provides 50 lessons to empower teenage girls in the developing world. The program is based off the 5 Pillars of Empowerment, which embody our beliefs that every girl should have the opportunity to know her Value, Voice, Body, Rights and Path.
The Flagship location is based in a semi-rural village on the outskirts of Marrakech. Through our expansion program, Project Soar in a Box, we aim to empower more of the world’s under-served adolescent girls.By the end of November 2017, there will be 28 sites across Morocco implementing the Project Soar program, bringing the curriculum, supplies and support to teenage girls in need.
Soar’s senior management team is 100% volunteer based. The organization is proud to have created multiple part-time job opportunities for local people who have specialized skills to teach the girls. Many others have lent support to Project Soar, from individuals to companies, from sports instructors to designers, and from doctors to Peace Corps Volunteers.
Together, we are building the Project Soar Nation: a country without borders and a state of mind -- a place made up of caring individuals who want to make the world a better place for its girls. Join us.
Project Soar has worked with more than 400 Moroccan girls, providing over 1000 hours of after-school programming and support. In order to attend Project Soar, girls must take the Project Soar Pledge, promising to stay in school.
